December 2, 2014: Three Good Things

Today’s three good things:

1. After pulling an all-nighter, I slept in until 1:30. My initial thought was that the day was shot, but I reframed my situation and managed to get the majority of my checklist done for the day. I’m proud of the fact that I caught it as quickly as I did and didn’t let the situation ruin my day. In fact, it sharpened my focus on it.

2. Despite my productivity, I spent a good portion of the day relaxing. This is hard for me when I get in “work mode” as I realize (as I’m writing this, in fact) that transitioning my mindset from work to play is a difficult thing for me to do, and I don’t do it well. I’m proud of my ability to properly compartmentalize the various parts of my day and not let one overpower the other.

3. Tonight, I cuddled on the couch with my beautiful wife and for the first time since I was a kid watched A Charlie Brown Christmas. It was a delightful evening of nostalgia, and as I’m writing this, I’m admiring our own little Christmas tree (pictured above) and listening to the Vince Guaraldi Trio on Pandora.
