Today’s post is going to be very short. (They don’t all have to be short stories, after all.) In the wake of yesterday’s post about refocusing on my checklists, I thought I’d let you know that yesterday I completed all the items on my checklist for the first time since mid-September. It took a little bit of extra effort but I managed to get it all done. Now today I’ll be working on starting a new streak.
It’s a really good feeling to know that you accomplished everything that you set out to do in a day’s time. My mental illnesses have prevented that for a long time, and I don’t like it when my lying brain tells me that it’s okay to slack off during the day. Once in a while, sure, it’s not a bad thing, but habitually doing so tends to make it that much harder to try and complete a day’s worth of checklist.
Hopefully I can head into February with a renewed attitude. February is my worrisome month, from a mental health standpoint. For the past two years, I’ve just up and stopped doing anything in my checklists for a couple months, and both years that period started within a day of one another, so there’s a tendency for me to be aware of as I head into late February.
Here’s hoping that this year will be different.
